Funding for Airing, a device to treat sleep apnea, has reached more than £670,000 ($1 million) via the crowdfunding site Indiegogo
The Airing device for sleep apnea
Start-up company Airing has raised the money from about 10,000 donors for its Airing device which is a maskless, cordless, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device to treat obstructive sleep apnea.
The Airing device fits inside the users’ nostrils and sits on their upper lip. The design uses micro-blowers originally intended for heat regulation for chips in computers. These micro-blowers are contained within the Airing device, so there is no need for external air and helps to regulate continuous positive airway pressure.
The delivery of the device is planned to commence in 2017 the company has said on its Indiegogo crowdfunding page. However, Airing has not yet applied for Food and Drug Administration approval.
