About EnvisionTEC.
EnvisionTEC is a leading provider of professional-grade 3D printing solutions to organisations around the world. The business was launched by engineer and entrepreneur Al Siblani who laid the foundations for EnvisionTEC when he filed his first 3D printing related patent submission in 1999. At its inception in 2002 EnvisionTEC launched its pioneering commercial DLP printing technology which cured liquid resins into objects, layer by layer. This technology was revolutionary and provided manufacturers with the ability to build objects at high speed, with incredible precision and surface finish.
Initially scoring a hit in the jewellery market EnvisionTEC’s 3D printers and materials have been embraced by a broad spectrum of industries including: Audiology, Dental and Orthodontic, Medical Devices, Aerospace and Automotive, Manufacturing and even Entertainment.
With more and more industries discovering the merits of the technology, EnvisionTEC invests extensively in research and development. The aim being to produce the best 3D printers in the market and develop materials that provide the exact properties required to fulfil the needs of its end users.
EnvisionTEC’s 3D printer technology has evolved from DLP and now includes six different processes allowing manufacturers to 3D print objects from digital design files:
- Digital Light Processing (DLP): A process where a vat of liquid photopolymer or resin is cured by a digital light source to build parts.
- Scan, Spin & Selectively Photocure (3SP): A laser uses a rapidly spinning mirror to selectively cure liquid resin into parts.
- Continuous Digital Light Manufacturing (cDLM): An improvement to the DLP process that relies on continuous motion of the build plate to provide exceptionally fast builds.
- Selective Lamination Composite Object Manufacturing (SLCOM): Processes a wide range of woven fibers preimpregnanted with thermoplastics using an ultrasonic cutting blade to create large composite parts.
- Robotic Additive Manufacturing (RAM): Through an exclusive strategic partnership with Viridis3D, EnvisionTEC is leading the way with robotic 3D printing, initially using binder jetting technology for sand casting in the foundry industry.
- Bioprinting: Processing of biomaterial using air or mechanical pressure to a syringe, which can fabricate scaffolds using a wide variety of materials.
EnvisionTEC Materials
EnvisionTEC is constantly inventing new materials and enhancing its current line-up of resins used in its 3D printers. The research and development teams work closely with customers to develop materials that meet their specific needs and the needs of their industries. With more than 40 proprietary materials, EnvisionTEC provides a rich number of options for users.
EnvisionTEC materials are offered in nine categories:
- Bioprinting – Materials used in conjunction with our 3D-Bioplotter allowing medical researchers to combine cells, gels, fibers, polymers, ceramics, metals and more into a single scaffolded object.
- Hearing – Designed for the development of hearing aids and other inner ear devices. EnvisionTEC supply a large range of biomedically approved materials with various skin-tone colors, such as tan, mocca, beige, cocoa, brown, black, white, rose clear and crystal clear. For fun, we also offer red, blue, pink
- Dental and Orthodontic - A range of materials aimed at a cross section of the Dental industry. Capabilities include the production of models, castables, restorations and appliances. Many of our dental focused materials are both CE and FDA approved to produce appliances which can be directly used in the mouth.
- Castable – Used by a variety of industries where a printed object needs to be cast into metal. EnvisionTEC has a history of providing these materials to the Jewelry industry for the production of rings and other high detail objects.
- High Detail – For the highest quality prints, our high detail materials provide the best surface quality and are used in the production of intricate models and prototypes.
- High Speed – Designed for use in our cDLM (Continuous Digital Light Manufacturing) machines, these materials are designed to allow for the high speed production of prototypes, molds and castable objects whilst retaining exceptional surface quality.
- Prototyping – Tough materials used in the production of accurate prototype parts for testing, prior to production.
- Molds and Tooling – Materials designed to be tough. With properties suitable for master patterns in rubber and silicone molding applications.
- End Use – Suitable for the production of robust prototypes and prints which are suitable for direct use. A range with a variety of properties, from tough ABS like materials through semi-flexible for snap fit applications and even soft flexible sponge like materials for footwear.
