Medical device and component manufacturer, Freudenberg Medical, announces the expansion of its medical balloon development and balloon rapid prototyping services.
Freudenberg Medical has offered balloon development for more than 15 years, and these services will now also take place within Freudenberg Medical’s product development centre in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
Within this Balloon Development Center of Excellence there are multiple capabilities to enable the development, manufacture and testing of high performance medical balloons. The facility’s dedicated equipment and project engineers also help ensure short timelines and that products reach the market quickly. Rapid Response Prototyping enables quick design concepts which are not available through typical off-the-shelf industry solutions.
Through the establishment of the Balloon Development Center of Excellence, Freudenberg Medical has centralised its balloon development activities. As a result of this, turnaround times for prototypes are decreased and the facility is able to support other manufacturing facilities with turnkey solutions.
Mark Ostwald, president of Freudenberg Medical minimally invasive solutions commented: “Whether you’re looking to address challenging requirements with multi-layer extrusions, high burst pressures, or specific features, lengths and diameters, our Rapid Response Prototyping team will quickly work with you to get prototypes in hand.
“Our knowledge with non-compliant, semi-compliant, and compliant balloon technologies in a range of dimensions and materials makes Freudenberg Medical a great partner for custom balloon development.”
Freudenberg Medical’s catheter development capabilities include advanced extrusion, handle and shaft development, balloon development and manufacturing, hypotubes and metal micro-components, assembly, and coatings.
