ENGEL expands its range of fully electric injection moulding machines with the launch of the new e-mac 500, debuting at Fakuma 2024.
ENGEL
The new size extends the portfolio of the compact e-mac series upwards. With a clamping force of 5000 kN the e-mac 500 combines high performance, energy efficiency, and a compact design suited to modern production environments.
The e-mac 500 features the new HIGH clamping drive, paired with an encapsulated toggle lever mechanism for fast and stable cycle times. Designed to bridge the gap between standard and high-performance applications, it is complemented with the digital assistance system, iQ motion control, which automatically adjusts the acceleration of the moving platen according to the tool's weight. This combination sets new industry standards, significantly reducing cycle times and cutting energy consumption by approximately 30% compared to hybrid or hydraulic injection moulding machines. The e-mac 500 is particularly suited for energy-intensive production processes where efficiency and precision are critical.
The machine also impresses with its compact design, requiring minimal floor space despite its powerful capabilities. For specialised applications, ENGEL offers optional expansion packages, including solutions for thin-wall injection moulding and cleanroom use. The versatility and high performance of the e-mac 500 will be demonstrated live at Fakuma, producing 4-litre containers with in-mould labelling in a two-cavity mould with a cycle time of just 8 seconds. The automation, which includes a viper linear robot, also features components from ENGEL's subsidiary, TMA.
With the new e-mac 500, ENGEL is emphasising its position as a technology leader, demonstrating how advanced technology and intelligent assistance systems can make plastics processing more efficient and sustainable. This machine offers excellent value for money and is a future-proof solution for companies seeking maximum efficiency in production.
