The Lubrizol Corporation’s LifeScience Polymers group exhibited at the 2014 Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) West show February 11-13 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. Visitors to Booth #2312 at MD&M West 2014 learned about new technologies and applications designed for the needs of the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Technologies include breathable polymers that are chemical resistant, functional polymers including flame retardants and long term implantable polymers for drug delivery.
Lubrizol’s medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) are designed to meet the stringent requirements of the healthcare industry while providing patient comfort. Featured product portfolios at MD&M West included:
• Aromatic CarbothaneTM TPU — Greater material strength, improved chemical resistance and increased resistance to creep make these TPUs a strong option for both long-term implants and permanent implants used in spinal and orthopedic applications.
• Flame Retardant Technology —The first medical grade TPU to provide excellent flame- retardancy, low smoke and low toxicity, this technology is ideal for electrical devices used in operating rooms or for patient care.
• Expanded offering of Pellethane TPUs — This enhanced product line includes new medical grades with high moisture vapor transmission (MVTR) for wound care applications as well as polymers for medical device and medical supply applications, where TPU’s high tensile strength can make devices thinner, lighter, liquid proof, and more comfortable for the patient.
Lubrizol's LifeScience Polymers team is focused on linking science to life by developing innovative polymer solutions and providing world-class support services to the healthcare industry.
